Savannah, Georgia, with its rich history and charming architecture, offers a myriad of captivating experiences that cater to all interests. If you're a food enthusiast, drink lover, or simply seeking a relaxing coastal escape like us, this city has something for everyone. My partner and I have been wanting to go for a while now and finally made it happen on our joint birthday vacation!
For delicious diner style eats, we happened upon Treylor Park, nestled in the heart of Savannah's historic district. We had to try the PB&J Chicken Wings and the Treylor Park Nachos, a delicious medley of waffle fries topped with bacon, pickles, cheese, and homemade ranch dressing. Yall, I ate these fries for 3 days, the portion was so huge! And we recreated those PB&J wings at home because we couldn't stop thinking of them.
On a rec from friends, we tried Zunzi's. South African and Swiss-inspired sandwiches promises a delightful journey through flavors. We were there during happy hour and got some good drink specials and half-off appetizers. I highly recommend trying the Bitz and Glitz; it was so good!!
Because my boo loves hims a tiki drinkie, The Bamboo Room was a must for us. This enchanting Polynesian oasis nestled within the historic district's Sorry Charlie's Oyster Bar. Immerse yourself in the captivating allure of tiki culture as you savor exotic cocktails served in vibrant, themed glassware. Next up was The Water Witch, located a little outside of downtown in the funky Thomas Square neighborhood. It draws inspiration from coastal legends and beckons you to enjoy signature cocktails that embody the city's maritime charm. The inside was so fun with giant statues, Peacock chairs, and an indoor fountain.
And being childless cocktail overs, we couldn't resist the American Prohibition Museum, where the captivating narrative of the Prohibition era unfolds. Explore its impact on society, culture, and the rise
organized crime, offering a unique window into a transformative period in American history. The wax figures are super realistic!
Meanwhile, the Graveface Museum was another amazing find, also recommended by my amazing friend. This museum provides insight into the complexities of the human experience. Areas such as true crime, the intriguing history of cults, the mystique of sideshow performances, the allure of 1950s roadside attractions, enigmatic secret societies, and the mysterious realm of the occult. There's even a life sized recreation of Ed Gene's murder house. If you love true crime, occult, and pinball, you must visit this one-of-a-kind museum!
No Savannah trip is complete without a visit to Tybee Island. Along the pier we found Riptide Bar, where we got a little rum bucket. An adorable little pail filled with 6 different rums that we sipped while strolling along the pier and souvenir shops. We went to see the historic Tybee Lighthouse and Battery, and walked along the beaches to get some sand between our toes.
For snackies and happy hour we hit, Seawolf Restaurant. Keeping on theme they not only have a tiki-inspired cocktail selection, but our guilty favorite, Guy Fieri, just visited Seawolf in April 2023 to film an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We love him, and we make sure to visit one or all of the places he's been in each of our vacation destinations. Seawolf is known locally for its hot dogs, so here's this guy.👈
We had a great time exploring the city's history, culture, and cuisine. Whether you're savoring innovative comfort food, exploring captivating exhibits, or simply soaking in the coastal beauty, Savannah's charms are bound to leave you enchanted and longing for more.
