A Flamingo and Bird Lovers Paradise

If you LOVE flamingos like I do, you have to visit this gem in Scotland Neck, North Carolina: Sylvan Heights Bird Park. This unique park is a 18-acre oasis that is home to over 2,000 birds from around the world. The park is committed to avian conservation, education, and research, and is dedicated to promoting awareness about the importance of protecting and preserving bird habitats.

Each section of the park is designed to replicate the natural habitat of the birds that live there. The Africa section has a savanna, a forest, and a wetland area that is home to flamingos, storks, and cranes. The park houses a few different species of flamingoes and the variations in their sizes and coloring are gorgeous! The South America section has a rainforest, a marsh, and a river that is home to macaws, toucans, and hummingbirds. You can watch the Scarlet Ibis' frolic in the water while a cute little duck makes a smooth landing on the water's surface.

Visitors can walk along the wetlands trails and observe the birds, turtles, and beavers in their natural habitat. There are also several exhibits where visitors can get up close and personal with the birds. Head over to The Landing Zone for the chance to hand feed flamingoes and parakeets! The park also offers daily bird shows, where visitors can watch birds fly, catch fish, and perform other amazing feats.

The park works with conservation organizations around the world to protect endangered bird species and their habitats. The park also offers educational programs for school groups and other organizations to learn about the importance of bird conservation.

If you're planning a visit to North Carolina or are an avid bird lover, be sure to put Sylvan Heights Bird Park on your bucket list of must-see attractions. It's a great place to spend the day and to learn about the fascinating world of birds.
